Eastside Costa Mesa is the area that sits east of the 55 freeway in Costa Mesa. Many people fall in love with Eastside Costa Mesa for several reasons:
-It is a highly sought after area located close to Newport Beachand has all of the conveniences that 17th Street has to offer.
-The real estate values tend to be among the pricier in the city.
-Many people like the programs that the schools offer.
-The homes are generally older with lots of character and charm. Most of the houses are unique and special.
-There is the opportunity to get Planned Unit Development homes, which tend to be newer
-Lots of people have bought homes and torn them down only to build magnificent new homes in their wake.
Take a drive through the straight, grid-like streets in Eastside Costa Mesa and you will see older, small cottages from the 1920s alongside newer Planned Unit Developments and modern “mansions.” Some of the older homes sit on large 10,000+ square foot lots and people often buy them and subdivide the land to build newer homes.
It’s very common to see people walking, biking, and jogging along the streets here. Since Eastside borders the Back Bay Nature Preserve, the outdoor lifestyle is a high priority for many residents.
The unique vibe in Eastside gives it an artsy feel. Along 17th Street you’ll find a mixture of mainstream shops like Starbucks and CVS as well as a variety of independent shops with high-end quality. Some of the local favorites are Plums Café, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Mi Casa Restaurant and Avanti Café. There are also some good places for nightlife including Pierce Street Annex. The area where Harbor and Newport Blvd intersect is also full of activity with the Triangle Square Shopping Center, Mothers Market, and longtime staples like The Goat Hill Tavern (named for the goat who originally resided in Costa Mesa!)
The Eastside Costa Mesa area currently has more than 5,000 residences. Lots of people are drawn to the neighborhood due to the mixture of new and old homes as well as the setting – close to Back Bay, 17th Street, and Newport Beach.
